As of now, the instant messaging platform only allows previews of photos and videos in the notification bar. However, according to a new report by WABetaInfo, the company has now decided to include voice messages in the preview too. Soon the platform will bring a feature to preview the received voice notes in the notifications of the smartphone itself. The iOS users will soon receive a push notification with an incoming voice message. WABetaInfo, on its Twitter account, informed that the new upgraded feature for WhatsApp for iOS allows its users to listen to a voice message with a dedicated play button placed in the notification itself. According to the website, the new feature is under development and the Facebook-owned WhatsApp will soon roll out the new update for iOS. The tweet reads, “I leave this here. Yes, it’s a push notification with an incoming voice message, on iOS. It will be available in future (maybe in a major update with other features?)” However, WABetaInfo has not confirmed when WhatsApp is planning to launch the new feature. As of now, there is no clarity on whether the preview voice note feature will be made available for the Android users.

This new feature will allow the users to edit media files sent or receive within the app. According to the report, this new feature is also under development for both Android and iOS. WhatsApp has released the ‘Quick Edit Media Shortcut’ for beta users and it will soon bring the new feature to other users also. With the new edit feature, the users will be able to edit their media files like their pictures sent or receive on the app itself. A dedicated button for the feature called Edit that has been placed beside the Share and Favourite buttons on the app and will be accessible when the user taps the media file.
