Speaking to CNET, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the next flagship smartphone from the company will come with a new and improved vibration motor that, according to him, would provide an “excellent” experience. It is worth mentioning that OnePlus is making this change only after it got a number of users’ complaints that its devices have a “terrible” vibration motor that does not inform about calls and other notifications. According to OnePlus, the new vibration/haptic motor on the handset is 200% more powerful than the one that it used before. The size of the motor has also been increased, and because of this, OnePlus even had to make some design changes. Speaking about it, Lau said, “Our team had to rethink the internal design of the OnePlus 7 Pro, to fit inside the body without increasing the thickness of the device, which could lead to a less ergonomic feel. At the same time, we had to ensure that the haptic motor was in the right position so that the haptics would be strong, yet even across the device.” In addition to this, users will be able to control the haptic motor on the upcoming OnePlus 7 Pro smartphone. We should also add that the OEM will be adding the setting for calls as well as notifications. This will enable you to control the motor intensity from “light”, “medium”, and “strong”. The handset will also have a setting to “tune-in” the strength of the motor even from the keyboard itself.

We will have to wait and see how the move turns out to be for OnePlus. The device has been in news for a number of reasons already including its HDR10+ certified display that comes with a 90Hz refresh rate, the pop-up selfie camera and its powerful chipset. As we mentioned earlier, the smartphone is all set to launch on May 14 and will be unveiled at simultaneous events in the United States, India and Europe.
