The company made this announcement via an official Google Cloud blog post, which also talks about Google‘s Cloud Next conference in San Francisco. In the blog post, the search giant has explained how the integration will work. If you have a G Suite account, you will be able to test the Assistant starting today. If you are signed in with a G Suite account and have it synced to your Calendar app, you can get your assistant to remind you about your next meeting by telling it when and where it is, set reminders and do so much more. And needless to say, it works exactly like the consumer-facing version of the Google Assistant app does.
We should mention that this will be rolling out for mobile as well as desktop users of Google Assistant. Google Assistant’s integration with G Suite for Calendar app is cross-platform. Going forward, we would find out if it is cross-platform for other services too. However, it is also worth pointing out that this would not work on a device that has your personal Google Assistant synced on it. This is because it is an enterprise feature and Google has only launched it for G Suite. Another thing worth pointing out is that as of now, there is no word on the G Suite apps that will work with Google Assistant. However, we expect to get more details on it once the feature exits beta. Speaking about the feature in its blog post, the technology giant said, “G Suite is integrating with the Google Assistant, specifically with Calendar. Your Google Assistant already helps with your personal life, but now when you sign in and switch to your G Suite account, you can easily use your Assistant to help you prepare for the workday, too. Whether you’re at home, on the go, or in the car, you’ll be able to ask your Assistant to tell you when and where your next meeting is, and stay on top of scheduling changes. This integration is available in beta today.” Google also added that with the update, “G Suite can help you work more efficiently and spend less time on repetitive, predictable tasks.”
